Important Message from Reed, State Program Administrator for T & I: Call to action, State Cosmetology Board

Team ODCTE,

In full transparency and to answer questions to so many that have asked:

On Friday Governor Stitt vetoed HB1030 that would allow the Cosmetology Board to continue working as it stands. He gave no solution and has left it to lawmakers to “take a step back and ask: What does this board really need to do, and who should be in charge of it?”

Director Haken and Skye McNeil are working hard on getting both the house and the senate to override the veto.

If they cannot get the veto override passed, then we can try to push through a bill to put the Cosmo board under another state agency or department.

Attached are talking points/ information to share if you feel so inclined to reach out to your elected officials. Every call and email counts, and please remember that anyone that uses services to get a haircut, nails done, massage services, facial and esthetics services would be affected, this isn’t just about the programs in the Tech Centers, this is about the regulation of an entire industry in the state of Oklahoma.

Sincerely,

Renee Reed
